Guaranteed trains during strikes
Even during a strike, operators must run the minimum essential services required under Italian Law 146/1990 and national agreements between rail operators and trade unions. The rules are overseen by the Commissione di Garanzia.
Guaranteed service times (weekdays)
- 06:00 – 09:00 (morning)
- 18:00 – 21:00 (evening)
Trains due to depart during these periods must run to their destination, even if they arrive after the guaranteed period ends.
Minimum services that continue to run
- Long-distance trains included in each operator's minimum essential services list
- International trains while operating in Italy
- Trains that departed before the strike began and continue to their final destination
